Product Spotlight – Bio Hazard Body Fluid Spill Kit.

These kits come in bright yellow boxes with large biohazard symbols that clearly mark their intentions, which may make you wonder why you need the items and what exactly is the intended purpose of a body fluid spill kit.

What is a Bio Hazard Body Spill Kit?

A biohazard body spill kit is a single use application pack that facilitates the safe and hygienic clean up of body fluid, such as blood, urine, vomit and other bodily fluids. No one wants to mop these by hand or attempt clean up with regular janitorial items – the risk of cross contamination is high and, quite frankly, its a disgusting way to clean up body fluid mess.

In each clean up pack, there is a bottle or sachet of granules that, when sprinkled on the fluids, turn them into solids – This of course makes the clean up a lot easier and safer. However, there’s more to a biohazard clean up than just the granules!

How to Use a Bio Hazard Body Fluid Spill Kit.

  • In each single application pack, there are 2 sets of PPE equipment, so it’s vital to start with the disposable protective apron and gloves. Some kits also include protective arm sleeves.

  • Once you have protected yourself, it’s time to start on the spill itself. The granules simply need sprinkling on the mess and then you need to wat a minute for the granules to work their magic and turn the body fluid int o a solid lump.

  • This can then be scooped up with the 2 plastic scrapers – 1 in each hand and scoop together to pick up the congealed lump. This can then be placed into the yellow biohazard bag that’s also provided.

  • Once the main mess has been cleared, the area can be disinfected with the disinfectant spray cleaner and disposable cloth. This too can be placed in the yellow bag.

  • Once the area is cleaned and disinfected, you can dispose of your PPE in the same yellow bag and this can then be disposed of through the normal channels in your workplace.

The Biohazard Spill Kit Box.

Biohazard body fluid spill kits usually come in a bright yellow, easily visible box. Some are wall mountable and some are small enough to not need prominent positioning on the wall – Each workplace is different and you can purchase kits to suit your needs. You can even buy single application kits to refill an existing bio hazard box.
