Product Spotlight – Stable Yard & Tack Room First Aid Kit.
We designed this kit for both equine and human use, specifically for the yard & stable. It’s a popular item and particularly suited for first aid emergencies in and around the yard and tack room. But why, what’s so good about it?
Stable Yard Kit – What is That?
When we created this kit for the yard & stable, we wanted equipment that would work well for both human and equine needs. As a result, we based the main products on HSE first aid kits and added extra items that are useful for equine first aid as well. A lot of the products are “interchangeable” – An eyewash pod is useful for cleaning a wound, either on yourself or your horse, for example. However, our kit is bursting with so much more, so let’s shine the product spotlight on the details!
The Bag.
We have chosen a sturdy & secure bag. One with chunky zips and internal compartments. The sections inside will help to keep items clean & dry when you are rummaging in a different section – we all know that hands can be a bit dirty at the best of times. With the design of this bag internally, it will help to eliminate cross contamination.
One of the main benefits of this bag is that it has a great handle, which means that it’s easy to hang up in the yard or tack room. The bag is a dark blue, which hides the dirt and the bag is clearly marked with the first aid symbol and writing.
The Contents.
The full contents list is below and is a fairly comprehensive list that covers most basic first aid emergencies. However we need to spotlight a few key items.

Cohesive Bandage: Ideal for poulticing and wound management, a cohesive bandage will secure an dressing in place and as it sticks to itself, will not need pins or tying. It’s quick, easy & reliable.

Saline Solution: Especially suitable for cleaning wounds and an essential part of any first aid kit. We have included pods in this bag, which are economical to use and are “squirtable” for efficiency. They are also useful for cleaning / sluicing debris from eyes.

Cetrimide Cream: Used for cleansing, disinfecting & moisturising. Gentle and soothing on abrasions and minor burns. This is a good alternative to Vetalintex hydrogel as it can be used on humans as well. Moreover, in our opinion, the tube is a LOT more hygienic than a tub; the contents don’t get contaminated by dirty hands.

HSE Dressings: These are designed for human limbs, but will work equally as well on your horse. The absorbent pad is fine to use on human skin, but for your horse, you can use a low adherent pad against the wound and put the HSE dressing as a padding bandage, finishing off with a cohesive.

Swabs and low adherent dressings, also suitable for both human and equine use. The dressings are double sided, so can be placed on a wound either way up. They are a cheaper alternative to Skintact, but are the same type of product. The swabs are a better choice for wound cleaning than cotton wool, as they leave no reside or fibres in the wound. Having said that, there is a small roll of cotton wool included that can be used for “wet” cleaning and wound padding.
